When I was at my grandmother's house over the weekend, she showed me a small photo of her mother and said, "she never went anywhere without a hat and gloves." I started thinking about how I might have been born in the wrong era. I adore that sense of decorum and poise and grace. I fancy myself more of a hat and gloves kind of gal than an Uggs and track-suit wearer. Image borrowed from AudreyHepburn, LuluMagrath, LillianGish, NormaShearer & RachelBurklundDesigns.
Ooooooooh!!!!!! What a sweet story, I love that ladies of that era all wore hats and gloves. Don't you wish we could jump back in time and be that glamorous every day?! Hope you are well sweet Pink Frenchie!!! xoxo
My grandmother & my own mother always wore hats when I was growing up. I think they are SO glamorous and classic - I love the Kentucky Derby strictly because I get to don a gorgeous one myself, ha ha!
My mother wore elegant hats with large brims that accentuated her beauty, calling attention to her exquisite face. When a woman is beautifully dressed, a gorgeous hat is the ultimate accessory.
Like Amélie Poulain, my life is all about the littlest pleasures: the freshest, pinkest raspberries; the deep blue of a Vermeer painting; the perfect crispness of a glass of Prosecco; the divine simplicity of an afternoon at the beach; the heavenly scent of a vanilla bean. Here I blog to celebrate the good life, la dolce vita, la belle vie. Cherish life's petits plaisirs and enrich your daily existence.
You should know that I take liberties with grammar, punctuation, & diction. Do not fear! I assure you I've been educated about the woes of abundant comma usage or the impropriety of ending a sentence with a preposition. Here, as this is not my dissertation, I write as I talk. I also make up words on occasion.
"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast." -Ernest Hemingway
