Cocktail du jour

Clink, clink, clink.  Hear that?  That's the sound of melting ice cubes, making room for whiskey.  That's the sound of Sunday night.

Sunday evening used to mean Sopranos or SATC, but now Sunday nights are for Mad Men.   And, how can you possibly watch Don Draper's suave antics without a retro cocktail in hand?

One of my favorite classic cocktails is the Whiskey Sour.
 Recipe:
  • 2 shots of Jack Daniels
  • half of a large lemon, squeezed
  • 1 shot of simple syrup
Add liquids to ice and stir with a funky retro swizzle stick for ultimate nostalgia.

Garnish with a wedge of lemon and a maraschino cherry.

Allow the drink to mellow for a few minutes before sipping.  In no time, you'll be mellowing out too. See, Sundays aren't so bad after all?

  1. Whiskey Sours are a FAV of mine too!
I like to serve these with retro appetizers --
    triangles of pimento cheese sandwiches,
    curried egg salad
    or deviled ham
    just the sort of tidbits
Joan, Peggy or Betty would serve.
