Frugal Fall Fashion Favorites

By Francis Miller for Life Magazine, 1958
As much as those T.J. Maxx commercials may grate on my nerves, I do commend their cutesy coinage of the term "frugalista."  I simply cannot stand paying full price or department store prices for much of anything.  Here are a few of my favorite fashion finds this fall.

Boots by Matisse from DSW.  What's not to love about a combination riding/cowboy boot with military touches along the calf?  The leather is super soft.  Catch DSW during a sale or with a coupon and you can snag these real leather beauties for under $100, a bargain for your toesies if you ask moi.
Confession: I love junky jewelry.  There is no quicker way to change up an old outfit than to pair it with some snazzy new jewelery.  I adore New York and Company for their near constant sales, but also for their ever-evolving selection of fun statement jewelry.
I bought this "all-over paisley" scarf from Target two or three years ago and they're still making this pattern in plenty of glorious shades.  Each time I wrap this beauty around my neck, I get compliments.  In the fall, I tend to stick to monochromatic browns and blacks and use accessories to satiate my need for bright colors.

Purple suede wedges?  Yes, please.  These shoes are unexpectedly wonderful.  I never fancied myself a purple shoe gal, but the minute I wore these pumps from Payless with some black cigarette pants, I was channeling my inner Sandra Dee.  The ruffled detail over the toe adds a trendy yet wearable touch.
Cardigans are an undeniable fall staple. These cozy numbers from New York and Company are bedazzled with jeweled buttons, adding an elegant twist on a classic sweater.
